Francis worked as Marketing and Communications Manager for Ark Rose Primary Academy and Ark Kings Academy, two rapidly improving schools in Birmingham which form part of the Ark network, one of the country’s top performing academy operators.
Francis was responsible for the development and delivery of a targeted marketing and communications strategy. His strategy made full use of traditional and digital communications to raise both schools’ profiles, increase admissions and boost staff staff recruitment.
- Securing favourable media coverage. Outlets included BBC News, The Guardian, the Birmingham Mail and Birmingham Post.
- Developing both schools’ online presence. For example, Francis grew the @arkkings Twitter account from from 63 to 664 followers in 18 months and revitalised the schools’ websites with engaging photos, videos and stories.
- Establishing strong community links. For example, Francis regularly wrote content for B31 Voices, a popular community news site and involved community leaders in school events.
Teaching pupils digital skills. For example, Francis shared his photography, video and design skills to help pupils take part in BBC News School Report and produce the Aspire student newspaper to a high standard.
Billy Cometti, Head of Communications at Ark said of Francis’ contribution:
“Francis is an experienced and effective marketing and communications professional. He is proficient in securing local and national media coverage, and he has a range of other skills, including social media, photography, video and of course content creation. I heartily recommend Francis for anyone looking for a reliable and productive mar/comms professional.”
